Can an erect penis snap or break? -

I always wondered. My fiance says NO because it is a sponge, but somebody once told me that they heard about somebody getting their penis accidentally broken by his passionate girlfriend. I certainly DO NOT want to test this at home, so if anybody knows the answer to this, please respond.
